Worker's Compensation

When you are hurt on the job, you expect that your employer will look out for you. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Under Workers’ Compensation, you have certain rights guaranteed under the law, such as recovery for lost wages, medical treatment and if there is permanent impairment, a lump sum payment based upon the percentage of impairment that you have sustained.

As an attorney, I represent injured workers in Kansas City, both on the Kansas and Missouri side. If I take your case, it will be on a contingency basis of 25 percent of the permanent impairment award I am able to get for you. You do not have to be totally disabled to receive a recovery for permanent impairment. If you are a member of a Union, I offer reduced fees, so call to discuss.

There are many types of injuries that can result in a permanent impairment award, such as:

  • Back injuries, spinal injuries
  • Repetitive stress injury
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Visual impairment, hearing impairment
  • Loss of limbs
  • Burn cases
  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Broken bones
  • Rotator Cuff tears
  • Hand, wrist, shoulder and arm injuries

Workers’ Compensation cases are complicated and very time-sensitive in nature. If you do not file the appropriate forms and follow the legally mandated procedure, you can jeopardize or completely lose your claim entirely. (refer to MODOLIR & KDHE).

If I represent you, I will file your claim for compensation with the state, get you a second opinion on medical treatment if you need it, and make sure you get the full amount of temporary wage replacement you are entitled to get. I will also monitor the course of your medical status and assure that you get the best treatment possible, so that you may recover from your injury. At the very end of your claim, when you have made the maximum physical recovery, I will help you maximize the award you receive for permanent impairment.

If you are totally disabled and unable to return to work, I will help you apply for disability benefits from Social Security.

If your injuries are the result of a car accident while you are on-the-job, or are caused by a third party as is the case with a dangerous or defective product, I will also represent you in a personal injury claim.
